OUR EARLY ANCESTORS EXPANDED OUR DIET
The greatest threat that our early ancestors faced was starvation. Like the wild animals we see around us, they spent their entire waking existence hunting and gathering for subsistence. To remedy this threat our ancestors began to farm and raise livestock, some 12,000 years ago, to increase the availability, quality, and variability of foodstuffs (and, according to some scientists, stave off future "ice ages,"). Curated cultivars, domesticated animals, and prolonged fermentation methods were technologies that enabled population growth and the pursuit of vocations other than food procurement.
ELIMINATION PARADIGM
Far too many have clearly forgotten the advantages the early agricultural period brought to our species. "Health conscious" individuals too often think the path to greater health and a better world is to cut out entire food categories. Grains get thrown out if your paleo, meat if your vegetarian, dairy if you're vegan, wheat if you're gluten-free, etc... Low quality proteins, like those extracted from legumes and other seeds, as well as insects, are touted as "progress."
I have concluded, from my personal experimentations since I first began modifying my own diet consciously in 1976, my medical practice since 1990, and my training of physicians and other health practitioners since 2000, that long-term dietary restrictions are folly. Short-term elimination diets, like our Sugar Control Diet [see TBM Manuals: 40th Anniversary Compilation (“The Big Book”) on pages 102, 103] and Yeast-Reduction Diet [see page 320], can certainly be clinically justified. But long-term restrictions lead to ever-increasing restrictions and a diminishment of not only health, but also our social lives and overall joy. "But, Dr. Millet, when I eat (fill in the blank) I feel sick, break out in hives, and get diarrhea!" My response? Luckily for you, Dr. Victor L. Frank invented something he called Total Body Modification (TBM) [pages 6, 7] along with its Harmonization process [125-129].
HARMONIZATION
The benefits of the Harmonization sequence [128, 129] cannot be overstated. By way of a procedure that takes only a few minutes, we can be unburdened from adverse reactions to virtually anything on earth! Lactose intolerant? Simply Harmonize with the Milk, Cow (Bos primigenius) vial. Gluten sensitive? We have a full library of vials for wheat and all its constituent parts. This works for not just foods , but also fragrances, pharmaceuticals, pollens, insects, and more. It is arguably the most powerful tool we have in TBM. I say arguably because Dr. Frank said that Menuing , our the process to quickly determine just what intervention a particular body needs, is most important. So maybe the Harmonization process [128, 129] is number two!
IMPORTANCE OF THE BASICS
Sometimes more than a Harmonization [128, 129] of the offending substance is needed. That is why we do "The Basics" first. As Victor would say, "You've got to turn the computer on!" While it is often the case that the Harmonization sequence [128, 129] can be effective with someone right off of the street, for many it is not and if results want to be counted on the Basics [25] must be done first. The Basics [25] also address other causes of food intolerance like hypohydration [40, 42], achlorhydria [89], hiatal hernia [48], gut dysbiosis [66, 88], temporomandibular dysfunction [52], costal torsion [45, 46, 47], pyridoxine deficiency [88], mineral deficiency [87], dysglycemia [33-38], hepatic [77] and pancreatic [74, 75] impairment, ileocecal valve dysfunction [48], sympathetic dominance [174], and more.
IMPORTANCE OF HYGIENE
Beyond Harmonization [125,129] and implementing the Basics [25], food and digestive hygiene are also critical. Only solid food is to be placed in the mouth and only liquid food is to be swallowed. Too many are consuming liquid foods like smoothies and others are only chewing a bare minimum of times to merely be able to swallow without choking. These practices are highly problematic. In addition, how a food is prepared is critical. Quick-rise wheat bread is toxic, sourdough wheat bread is life saving. I'm going to devote the next half dozen or so TBM Alerts to discussing how and why to include the foodstuffs and drinks too often get eliminated in the pursuit of health and comfort and which out ancestors curated over the millennia and the more recent centuries. I am primarily referring to things like wheat, dairy (bovine), beef, coffee & tea, beer , wine , & spirits , and tobacco, I'll probably get around to other nightshades as well. |
